Paris-Orly Airport (French L’aéroport de Paris-Orly) is an airport in Ile-de-France (France), located only 14 kilometers south of Paris on a 15.3 km² site in the communes of Orly and Villeneuve-le-Roi.
In the 1950s, Orly replaced Le Bourget Airport from the position of the main airport of Paris and was simply called Paris Airport (Aéroport de Paris), but the name Orly was already attached to it, and after the opening of another Roissy airport – Charles de Gaulle, the name Orly became the most used.
In 2002, 207,000 takeoffs and landings were recorded. Orly serves mainly domestic flights in France. From Orly airport it is convenient to get to Lyon, Bordeaux, Toulon, Marseille, Toulouse, Nice, Biaritz (Air France, EasyJet and other airlines)
Aeroflot planes flew here from Russia (more precisely, almost a Russian government company under the Aeroflot brand).

Orly airport and the history of the USSR
Most of the most interesting stories related to Russian history are still classified. According to some reports, it was from this airfield that employees of the Red Army Intelligence Agency (the modern GRU General Staff) hijacked a dozen and a half new aircraft to help the Republicans in Spain. Most likely, it was from here that the failed Soviet agent General Skoblin was airlifted in 1937, also in Spain. The same airport was to be used for the arrival of Soviet official delegations immediately after the Second World War.
In 1980, during the Olympics in the USSR, restaurants with Russian cuisine worked at the airport.

The airport occupies a large area, there are several terminals. You can get there by tram from the metro station or by RER with an internal mini-train.
